Valeriana officinalis it is a herbaceous plant, a meter high – a meter and a half, which grows spontaneously in moist places with loose earth from the hills and mountains. It has pale pink flowers with a faint, sweet, just like the leaves.
The root is strong and well developed (in it are stored over the winter reserve substances), also having a distinct odor: sweet-pungent and quite unpleasant, slightly emetic (emetic). The root is harvested in late September, early October.
